You know I loved you dearly 
Didn't mean to treat you bad 
I should have held you near to me 
But was pulled away like mad
 
When life has closed its book on me 
And sealed it with my name 
You'll always be a part therein 
Thy image forever the same 
 
You know I loved you dearly 
Didn't mean to be unkind 
I should have slowed my hasty ride
But your steps were far behind 
 
But when life............

Didn't mean to make you cry 
I should have dried your tears away 
But was aiming for the sky

I should have put more blame on me
Not accept that it was meant
