I Love You Too Poem by Selina Gurgacz

I Love You Too

Why, oh why. Oh why, oh why,
Does it have to be this way.
We were the best of friends,
We could trust each other.
But I don’t understand,
Why you’re telling me this,
Telling me these things.
I never realised,
That deep down inside,
That you felt that way,
Because of what happened before.
I never would have guessed,
That you would have professed,
What you are right now.
And that you would have said,
Those three words I’d longed to hear.
‘I love you.’

I always had feelings for you,
But brushed them aside,
For I thought it would ruin what we had.
I never owned up to my feelings,
That when I felt empty,
You made me whole again.
I could never tell you these things,
For fear of rejection,
For fear of you saying,
‘I still don’t want anyone, I still love her.’
But now I can,
Now I can say,
What I’ve always wanted to say.
‘I love you too.’
