I Long To Play My Violin Poem by Gilbert Pangyarihan

I Long To Play My Violin

I long to play my violin,
To tuck its butt under my chin,
To draw the bow across the strings
And do bravura fingerings.

I long to hold my violin,
Caress its smooth and silky skin,
Indulge in its curvaceous hips,
And kiss the belly with my lips.

I long to touch my violin –
For a long time I have not seen –
To poke the f-hole with the stick,
Align the sound post to its peak.

I want to play my violin
And keep my mind and spirit keen,
Play Paganini with a spin,
Just like I used to as a teen.
