I Lie Awake Poem by Amanda Deupree

I Lie Awake

I lie awake and cry
Tears you'll never see
You deserve so much better
So I give the best of me

I lie awake and think
Where did I go wrong
You and I are perfect
Yet we don't belong

I lie awake tonight
As I did the night before
You've begun to notice
My need for something more

I'll lie awake tomorrow
Forever in debate
You'll sleep soundly
I'll stay up late

I'll lie awake nightly
Thinking about you
You'll sleep next to me
Not knowing what to do

I'm awake tonight
Missing the little things
You snore beside me
Forgetting the love you used to bring
