I Laughed Poem by Barry Middleton

I Laughed

Rating: 4.6

so when I laughed at death
she was angry

I guess she thought a grim
exterior would help

she said it was not funny
death cries

still I will laugh at my pain
and grief

they are here to tell me
I am alive

so when I laugh at death
it is a choice

I laugh in a roar of agony
and tears

I steal from tears a throne
and crown

when my laughter ceases
then death will smile

I Laughed

A very poignant write. Quite heart-touching. Death is a terrible thing that man has to encounter but acceptance of it makes the reality less grim.

I don't know. Death is grim no matter what. I laugh but that does not mean I have accepted it.

when my laughter ceases then death will smile Good thought and poem. Laughter could actually cause healing.

Well I hope laughter does cause healing because I'm gonna keep laughing as long as I can. Thanks for the comment.
