I Know She Does Not Love Me Poem by Edgar Allan Oliver

I Know She Does Not Love Me

I know she does not love me,
I know she does not care.
I know she does not think of me,
Even when I'm there.

She used to say she loved me,
She used to miss me alot.
She used to nag and yearn for me,
But now she has forgot.

Her heart was once on fire for me,
Her eyes showed love throughout.
Her eyes and fire she had once for me,
Has suddenly gone out.

These last few years we've grown apart,
For this I take some blame.
Her love she gave to another,
She hides her face in shame.

She says that she still loves me,
But she shares a part in blame.
But I thinks she only says so,
For the sake of the marriage game.

We lay in bed without touching,
Where once we used to embrace.
My life is cold and empty now,
As I lay and stare in space.

For Thirtytwo years I've loved her,
And almost thirty years been wed.
I lay here most nights crying soflty,
And wished that I were dead.

Not many years are left in me,
And this I know is true.
I'd trade everything I own in life,
To hear her say sincerely, 'I really do love you.'
