That frightens children,
making them unsure
what is waiting
in the sightlessness
of night.

I know about darkness
that excites
the first time
that kind of touch
is felt,
turning darkness into
a lover and friend.

Living with a dark side
always made me stimulated
and apprehensive;

awareness of the Light
makes me excited and hopeful;

struggling with both
injected openness into fear
turning thoughts into words
that connect

because I know
about darkness.
