I Have Seen Colorful Smiles Poem by Hebert Logerie

I Have Seen Colorful Smiles

I have seen the innocent smiles of school children,
Playing with the neighbors' chickens one afternoon.
I have seen the exotic wink of a few women.
Feeding their little ones with a wooden spoon.

I have seen the ducks chasing their short shadows.
I have seen the elders admiring three rainbows,
A summer afternoon, not too far from the small lake.
Life is indeed wonderful and thrilling for God's sake.

I‘ve never seen black smiles, I've never seen white smiles;
However, I've seen colorful smiles shining beneath the clouds,
Where city dwellers do not have to search for food, for miles.

Smiles can alter the way we all see our beautiful universe.
There's hope amidst the turmoil, where small rowdy crowds
Alter their lewd chants before the arrival of the hearse.
