I Got Your Email Poem by Paula Glynn

I Got Your Email

I got your email last night,
And was glad to hear from you,
To know your trip is going well,
And you'll not be with a woman,
Who'll kiss and tell,
For that may be part of this business,
But you are more than a part of business to me,
For you mean the world to me,
And I always think of you out there,
Every time I turn on the TV,
I would never deny you your freedom,
Never tell you what to do or how to live,
For love is the only thing I give,
Don't get me wrong: I do miss you when you're away,
But your love is in my heart and is here to stay,
And I desire you more than any gold bracelet in this world,
No matter the time or distance, we always find each other,
And I know you'll be coming home soon,
Where we can walk, talk, laugh and kiss under the moon,
Because it doesn't matter the weather to me:
It is always summer in my heart,
And love a gift I happily impart,
My heart rejoicing and not broken,
So when you catch that train and plane,
Know that I will be here for you,
Your love a part of me and so true,
For you I do not want to contain,
I just want to explain,
That you're always home away from home,
And you're always welcome at this door,
So sleep well my love and know love,
I will keep in my heart and give forever more.

I always look forward to your emails,
And I am thankful you understand females,
For you understand me the way others don't,
And cheating is something I do not do,
Because you matter to me more than money,
Even when you are away on business trips,
And the office is hectic here,
And sometimes I want to give in to my fears,
But when every birthday comes around,
I know I am still here, and growing stronger,
For I have your love by my side,
I have your strength and courage to guide me,
For I always want you beside me,
To make me feel luxurious and rich,
To have you keep my secrets and desires,
And situations always seem to crop up,
But I have a lucky charm: I have you,
So every time I read your emails,
I realise how lucky I am, and I don't even need a diamond ring,
For jewels mean little when next to you,
And just as the sun will shine on my face in the morning,
With you around, no two days are the same,
And it's all good, so have a safe trip,
Black satin sheets beckoning, no cigarette needed,
For this love burns by itself for both of us.
