I Failed You Poem by Carl Browne

I Failed You

I let them all down but I couldn't see,
My family deserve better from me.
Past mistakes have been laid to rest,
From this day forth ill be my best.

Ill work as hard and as long as I can,
To right the wrongs of a previous man.
Who's reputation I've inherited you see,
Because once upon a time i can't deny it was me.

I never realised or chose not to look,
There was no manual, there was no book.
I was foolish, but now I'm wise,
Only my face will you recognise.

If only you could look past and see,
There has been everlasting changes in me.
No more hurt and no more pain,
Being that way I had nothing to gain.

Now I'm left with a heavy heart,
Because of a previous life we have to part.
All the love and devotion i hid from you,
Is now haunting my dreams filled with you.

I will love you every day,
Even if not reciprocated in any way.
My heart is filled with love for you,
And will continue until I'm cold and blue.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Very open - I feel your pain. It takes a lot of courage to change, I commend you. As long as you take a step a day in the right direction you'll make a difference - not only in your life, but in those who love you too. Thank you for sharing your heart.
