I Do Not Hate Anybody Poem by Francis Duggan

I Do Not Hate Anybody

I do not hate anybody since i refuse to hate
Though many i have got to know i would not choose for a mate
I have met some toxic people though in the worst you'll find
That people with more flaws than most too can be good and kind
Yes people with more flaws than most do have in them some good
Though on their climb on the social steps on a few toes they have stood
In their narrow ways narcissistic and lacking in empathy
But even the very darkest soul warrants some sympathy,
It does seem to me that hatred seems a wasted energy
It leads to war, suffering and death and bitter enmity
And though you cannot be a good friend to everybody in the town
I agree with those who say that hate is love turned upside down,
I do not love everybody but i refuse to hate
Though everyone you get to know cannot become your mate.
