I did not realize
The tears in your eyes
Are caused by me
Why did I not see?

Just what I have done
I was only having fun
But it hurt you so
Why did I not know?

I am such a fool
Never meant to be cruel
You are always loyal
Why did I use you as a foil?

Now I must guard the words I would say
Be careful not to use my words for play
To talk to you with feeling and taste
Keeping those tears from your face
