I Did Not Cry Poem by Mixo Malepfane

I Did Not Cry

I heard if your death and I did not cry
But all I did was to laugh till my lungs hurt and my tears started to fall
In those moments all I could think about was what a human being you were
If I was writing a poem, these would be my words
In your passing you stood up time
For in that moment of knowing everything stood still and only you alone moved
Do you know I cherish every moment I spent with you
You lived your life knowing you will die
And that did not kill you, for you were free of death
No wonder you left me memories for tomorrow and even lessons for the day after tomorrow
I will never miss you because you are always by my side
Death thought it could cheat you out of life
But all it did was to resurrect you
Death amplified and multiplied your life
And yet they ask me to mourn for you
Please tell them you did not die in death
