I Cut Joke Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

I Cut Joke

I teased you at each turn
You smiled but never retuned
Hostile gesture
To reassure

It was my nature
To bring you near
And pull you down
For fault of none

You tolerated
But never related
Before any one
You swallowed it alone

Such was nobility
Very fine quality
From a nice woman
And kind human

I tried to compare
And dared
With double meaning words
And ignored

You tried
But never lied
It was all in vain
And causing more pain

I cut joke
And smoked
When you were whipping
I was too arrogant and clapping
