I Cried For Us And For Them Poem by Hebert Logerie

I Cried For Us And For Them

Let the bells of Justice toll
I cried for Michael
Who was slain in Ferguson
I cried for Mike Mike
Because he was a good son
I cried for all my brothers alike
I cried for my murdered brothers
For my persecuted and tortured sisters
For the exploited employees
And for the grieving families
I cried for Eric
Who was not sick
When he died; he was choked
By a bunch of enraged cops
For allegedly selling a few smokes
In a street corner. This is bull craps,
Eric Gardner was choked to death
On the videotape, he clearly stated
That: "He could not breath"
His death was declared a homicide.
I cried for all who are persecuted
Beat, Harassed, and assaulted. I cried
For my people who are fighting themselves
Destroying their homes, the stores, the shelves
And their neighborhoods. I cried
For the discouraged unemployed
And the mistreated under-employed
It is well known that the system tried
To destroy us in the past
Little they know that nothing lasts
Under the umbrella of the Almighty
And their crimes will not go without impunity
I cried for all children of God under the sun
I cried a lot for my black daughter and son
I fear for their lives and safety
Because the cops and others are very crazy
I cried for the poor merchants
Who are fighting daily, working like ants
To earn a decent living
I cried for all who are suffering
For the families who are mourning
I cried for the good cops who respect our rights
I cried for God to send an array of lights
To brighten our tomorrow
And to smooth our sorrow.

Let the bells of Justice toll
I cried for Michael
I cried for Eric Garner
Who was choked in a street corner
I cried for all the others
Who were innocent
And who lost their young and valiant
Lives and souls in unusual manners
Many of them were executed in broad daylight
By a bunch of irate racists who were not so bright
I cried and I mourned
I am saddened, I am torn
By too much discrimination
By too many illegal executions
By too much crimes
By the killings for a dime
I cried for you and me
I cried for our dignity
For our Freedom and Liberty
For Justice and Decency.
