I could not be...
The kind of son, my parents wanted me to be;
Nevertheless, I tried my best to be,
Nearly the one, they thought I ought to be,
But better in some ways, I was truly.
I could not be...
The kind of brother, sisters wanted me to be;
Nevertheless, I tried my best to be,
Almost the one, expected out of me,
And better in some ways, I was truly.
I could not be...
The kind of husband, my wife wanted me to be;
Nevertheless, I tried my best to be,
Akin the one, she dreamt of me to be,
And much better I was transformed truly.
I could not be...
The kind of father, children wanted me to be;
Nevertheless, I tried my best to be,
The exemplary dad, I ought to be,
And better in more ways I was truly.
I could not be...
The kind of pupil, teachers wanted me to be;
Nevertheless, I tried my best to be,
A student good like how they nurtured me,
And I was better than they dreamt of me.
I could not be...
The kind of doctor, world had wanted me to be.
Nevertheless, I tried my best to be,
An ethical, humane personality,
Who kept the profession's nobility.
The kind of devotee, God wanted me to be
Nevertheless, I tried my best to be,
A righteous man, living in piety,
And much more God-fearing than others see.
