I Asked Poem by Ronald Chapman

I Asked

I asked the moon, "Why it was white? "
And it smiled and flew across the sky.
I asked the night, "Why it was black? "
And it said, "Here are some lights to guide your way."
I asked the sun, "Why it gave light? "
And it too guides me though life.
I asked the rose to bloom.
And it blossoms did open wide.
I asked the rain, "Not to fall."
And it did, and the rose peddles fell.
I asked the winds, "Why they blew? "
And they said, "To clean the ground anew."
I asked myself, "Is this real? "
And the sky and sun faded.
The winds stopped.
The night turned into day.
And I kept quiet.
And everything was ok.
Just a dream.
