I Am You Poem by Jacob Arden

I Am You

I am another orphan, the son of war

I am a product of genocide, my parents were killed

I am a wounded child, caught in the crossfire

I am the neglected one, left for natural disasters

I am a survivor of floods, my house was washed away

I am the hungry from drought, the water didn't come

I am the slave you hurt, took away from home

I am the refugee, who fled for his life

I am the scavenger, living on food stamps

I am the odd one out, not fitting in your society

I am the stranger, not from your community

I am the thieve you hate, just another steal

I am the one who accepted the bribe, trying to survive

I am the result of your system, supporting corruption

I am a law abiding citizen, just like everyone

I am the one who went to the streets, screamed so loud

I am that soldier you knew, refused the status quo

I am the fighter, who chose a pen over the gun

I am the oppressed one, lived under the cosh

I am the rebel, asked for others support

I am the one who lost, for not taking sides

I am a living confusion, lost in this place

I am who I am, because of this world

I am YOU, just look at me
