I Am The Dreamer Poem by Wu Wei

I Am The Dreamer

Rating: 3.5

I am the dreamer
I always knew that I would be
Constantly shielding my beliefs
from the corruption of reality.

They measure a man by the scale of his wealth
Not the depth of his ability to love
Morality is seized as the unique possession
Of those who believe in an above.

I am the dreamer
I always knew that I would be
Constantly shielding my beliefs
from the greed of society.

Stop demanding of others what you should do yourself
No-one was born your slave
Nationality is just where you happened to be born
Not a contract from birth to grave.

I am the dreamer
I always knew that I would be
Constantly shielding my beliefs
from the blindness of nationality.

Countries, religion and political parties
Demanding you do what they say
But you don't need a passport, a god or rosette
To make kindness your own natural way.

So I am the dreamer
I always knew that I would be free
Once I found the answers came not from others
But simply from inside me.
