I Am Still Black Poem by PRINCE SALAMAVELI

I Am Still Black

Rating: 5.0

You may change my name
Teach me to hate my skin
That won't change a thing
What matters is, I am still black.

You may give me a black eye
Bash my head against the wall
Show me guns and crack
I will not slang, I will not sink
In your cheap tricks.

You may be berserk
Upset 'cause you saw
The benefits of my success
You may plot to thwart
The best things I had.

You may grow envious
Sad, bad, and mad
That won't change a thing
What matters is, I am still black.
