I Am Only What I Am Poem by Jay Press

I Am Only What I Am

I am Only what I am
For better or Worse
This is what i'm worth

If your looking for something else
Then i suggest you look someplace else

I am not defined merely by my talents
But also by my flaws
My motivation and my life's cause
Because I am what I always was

I am Only what I am
If i was anything other then me
Then what would I be?

To myself I'll always stay true
In actuality its the only thing i know how to do

A mask is a gimmick for those who can't look in the mirror
When yourself is your greatest fear
The trial of life is overcoming what's right here
So beware
Of the truth reality bears

I am Only what I am
For more or for Less
I've noone to impress
And into nothing to transgress

Then look in the mirror
Then look at your face
Acknowledge
Love
Hate
Then Embrace

I am Only what I am
For a little or for Alot
I am the one thing I got
If i were to change i'd be distraught
And it'd be not what I am
But what i'm not
