I Am Only 16 Poem by Erica Burke

I Am Only 16

I am the kitten at your feet,
I love you and I only want love from you,
I am always number two because I am afraid to be number one,
I am the smile from an old friend,
who you are longing to see,
I am the voice inside you that says,
“I am afraid of spiders! ”
I am an Evergreen tree on Christmas morning.
I am the double decker devil’s food cake,
sitting in the pantry,
I am the first dance,
of a newlywed couple,
I am the sound of a baby’s first giggle.
