I Am Not Yours Poem by Denn Meneses

I Am Not Yours

I am not yours, never will be
Like sun and moon, it is plain to see
The yawning gulf, the deep blue ocean
It makes me groove in melancholic motion.

I am not lost in you, completely lost
Although I long to be, I dread it most
I would sell my soul, crumple my heart
All over again to cherish the spark.

But I am not yours, you are not mine
I wax and wane, you rise and shine
I could not bloom for you, I could not sigh
In the ecstasy of our minds I couldn't fly high.

(Inspired by Sarah Teasdale's poem of the same title)
