I Am Not Only Trying To Say Hi Poem by Sheikh Ahmed Tijan Bah

It’s being a couple of months since the semester began
so it’s that time of the year again
sleepless nights, texts books and note binds
tensions rising, mass bunking in the name of self-studying
racing after teachers, “paper main, kya aara hai? ” (what is coming in the paper?)
Seriousness rushes in, new faces in the class
all wanting to know, what’s coming in the 10 marks
teachers reassure that everything will be fine
but we are yet to complete all of the syllabi
“just understand the theory, from unit five
and the numericals are easy” they say
but under the sun I forgot to make hay
so understand when in the hall, I wave bye
just know that 'I’m not only trying to say hi...'
