I Am Not Every Girl Poem by Tea Kawana

I Am Not Every Girl

You say
you are foolish
and stupid
and regretted trusting me
You say
“You are all the same”

I’m saying
I am a woman:
I am strong yet soft
I am subtle
yet basic.
Yet I am me.

I do care; considering feelings
But I’m the fragile
One
Here. If I had to go
on, I may crumble.
For life - I turn,
so I do not crumble
in your hands.

you say
you are foolish and stupid
and regret trusting me
You say
“You are all the same”

I’m saying
Do not lock me in the past
and stack me with the others
I’m saying
“I am different”

I say
I am not every girl
