the rain
may pour

as the sun
may shine

and there
will be no talk
about

what was
given and


what was
returned

the sky
does not measure
what vastness
it holds

the river flows
with a song

it does not choose
who must
hear it

what is the
point to all these?

i am none of
the above

and human as i am
i am a servant
to numbers

a believer in equations

i give but i also
take

and i can't help how
my mind
works

and it knows what is
unfair.
