I Am My Deen Poem by Jeffrey McCambridge

I Am My Deen

I am the
Half-way point
Between yes and no
Your green light
America's crescendo

I am the beginning
And I have no end
And though I come full-circle
I will never bend

Now you see me
Now you're dead
I am eternal
With each life I shed

Growing new skins
Changing with the wind
'Cause change is the only constant
Life flashing in my eyes every instant

Where money has no value
I am always poor
Taking long walks
Along the ocean floor

Seaweed suitcase
Squishing between toes
Crashing on rocks
My soul ebbs and flows

Watching the moon
My ego's tide
Will drown the world
With no ark to hide

I am Noah
Friend to the Prophet
Facing the sunrise
Kneeling on my carpet

I am your greatest fear
And your best dream
I'm too big for words
I am my Deen

Well if you’re happy, that’s all that matters. I’ve been there too.
