I Am Dull To Maids Poem by nadia abduljabbar

I Am Dull To Maids

I am dull or rather
Very boring for
A House helper
And almost to all
House keepers
And maids;
I have no husband
To seduce,
No child to abuse,
And no driver
To have a relationship with,
So, I am dull
And very boring
To maids.

I treat them well,
I thank them for
The smallest deed
They accomplish,
Yet still I can’t reach
To bring
A kind of acceptance
On any face.

In Europe they
Found solutions,
They live in small
Houses that they
Can easily clean,
They wash
Clothes in laundries,
And eat out one meal
A day,
If they hate cooking.

In the past maids
Were like a member
In the family,
But now things are
Changing rapidly.

In Arabia we are made
To bend for workers,
Even if they were bad,
Because we cannot do
Without them,
We live in big houses
That compel us
To have maids.

Still I hate it,
When I hear women
Saying we cannot live,
Without maids,
I hate it when people
Bend to anyone
Except Allah or God.

I found for myself
Solutions,
For The Creative
Gave us brains,
I try to enlighten others,
Even if some
Complain and want
Darkness,
I will continue to do so,
And will always do,
Whatever the price I pay.
