I Am A Student Of Love, Forevermore Poem by James Darwin Smith II

I Am A Student Of Love, Forevermore

No one knows
How far I have gone
To keep love strong
When it was being held in my arms
The sacrifice, the whole effort
To make another one happy
While crying loudly on the inside

So much anguish when I see
Other men not having to try hard
Taking everything they have for granted
No effort or anything at all

So much of this happens in this world
Then many ask why this world can be so cold
Perhaps they could be a part of the problem
Hubris full of anxiety
Setting its own confused tone

Cannot let this hurt anymore
Standing strong and proud even if alone
Thinking positive thoughts
And loving all that I can
Being romantic even now
Inspired by love's hopes and dreams ahead

I now know
How far I have really gone
To accept this journey
As one to fix myself
To adjust to this life
Mending this heart free

So much hope I see now within
What happens shall happen
No need to sweat things anymore

I love myself now, even more
My heart needs no crutch
It can travel on its own
Love is not a cure for pain
But a source that starts with one self
Spreading out towards others like never before

I have learned so much
And I shall always learn even more

I am a student of love, Forevermore
