I Am A Poet Poem by Judy Meibach

I am a poet
looking for ideas
reasons to write
raison d'etre
for my writing is
my purpose
in life - a reason
to awaken in the morning
and fill the voids.

My poetry takes me
to places known and unknown -
places that I would like to be
and well...
places I do not want to venture
into....

My poetry allows me to dream,
really dream of a world
I would like to be in.

My poetry allows me to understand
the meaning of life - why I am
who I am and
why my journey has been
as distorted as it has been.

My poetry shows me how to forgive
those who have hurt me
and for me to plead
for forgiveness from
those I have harmed.
