I Am Poem by Ryan Brodesser

I Am

I am the growling washing machine

the whirling fan

toys on the floor

the knob on the door

I am a ball on the pavement waiting for use

a set of brand new bow and arrows

eager moles creating holes in the grass

and tall trees standing proudly in the field

I am the tall house

the chain link fences

and the dogs behind those fences

I am part of this neighborhood

I am Richie's friend

Jack’s companion

And Josephs close ally

I am all the above

I am “Don’t make what you don’t know, ”

“A common friendship leads a long way, ”

“Respect others like you would respect yourself, ”

“Help others in need, and let them help you, ”

I am frozen peas and roasted chicken

Gooey chocolate chip cookies

Fresh baked french bread still hot from the oven

and perfect pizza, with sausage, onions, anchovies, pepperoni, and just the right amount of cheese.

I am a recollection of memories

a stack of intelligence

a sharp mind

a man of ideas
