Hunger Poem by David Harris

Hunger

Rating: 5.0

The more I think about
the days when I was young
the more I hunger
for them back again
to correct the mistakes
I made back then.
To get to know more of the people
I went to school with
and make more of them a friend.
Sadly that can never be
and all I am left with is thoughts
of what might have been
had I spoken out a bit more.

I feel exactly the same. Chances lost...Opportunities not taken........things unsaid. I think there are few who would disagree. My biggest regret was being a Civil Servant for 30 years, and following a lack lustre career. We only get one bite of the apple, so it's best to enjoy it. I agree with you, but find personal regrets very destructive. Best Regards Steve

I think you wrote this poem for me. I was so oblivious to so many things..graduated high school not knowing the names of many of my fellows..Thanks for putting words to that sensation of things gone missing..(smile)
