Humanity? Poem by Lauren Harper

Humanity?

I suppose now you will receive all that you once desire, for now that I am here and you there. Seemingly I can melt into the background only to be seen when called to attention. For now I will sit and wait until I am once again deeper worthy enough to be acknowledged in any circumstance. Sit as I may, dark engulfing every inch of what I consider to be at least a shred of humanity. Why do we call it such when it is so far from reality. we are humans, but humanity? How far from the truth you see. For one is not as kind to another as most could possibly think. For now, I will disperse into the dark to ponder all of these things, again and again I will question this fabricated sanity.
