Human Nature

Hardly remembered and mostly unnoticed
are certain things in this world in all the times
Humans we are! Hardly do anything without motives
We rear the cattle for milk and flesh
We grow the crops for yields from them
We build the dams for power and cultivation
We do good things at times to get noticed and solicited
We make offerings to God partnering Him in all our deeds
Nothing fails us in any of the above most of the times
Rare to find anything done without expectation
Exception is the one that is parental love
We Bring up the children and provide them a future
We raise our children in a devout way
Wishing only their welfare at all the times
Wealth we create for them to enjoy
Vouch before all we don’t need anything in return
In our heart of hearts we still have a wish
We crave for their love, affection and concern
Lucky how many, time only decides!

True, we have no expectations because parental love is instinctive and shared by many animals. (Report) Reply

Even when someone does selflessly we can say that one does for one's satisfaction. Whatever the motive, serving is more important. Thank you for a nice poem (Report) Reply

Beholding me that all the pageants play,
Disguysing diversly my troubled wits.
