How Will You Serve The New Year? Poem by Chuy Amante

How Will You Serve The New Year?

Rating: 4.0

365 days coming to an end,
thanks Pope Greg 13
for your calendar
A new year will be birthed?
God Janus gives us a doorway,
are we leaving or coming?

I AM
coming
to make sure
this year is good for others

What will I give?
How may I help?
Where can suffering be alleviated?
Will I bless another,
esteeming him as my holy brother,
How may I better offer to all,
what I would want?
Can I be small, always?
Can I allow the deaf to be heard
respectfully?
Can I help the lame to better walk?
Can I share clarity so others may see?
Will I share what the Universe has provided?
Will I be awake to every call to serve?
When Roman Februa comes, will purification
accompany it? Or will it be the muddy month?

Happy I'll be this
New
Year
loving mankind, with action
no self pity, no complaining,
no selfishness, never hurting.

That I may be strong enough,
indefatigable, tender,
in loving all this year
one day at a time
never ceasing
sharing
goodness
shamelessly
