How Will I Poem by Terry Jude Miller

How Will I

I hope this poem doesn't make it
into the Texas Poetry Calendar.

If it does, my closet poet secret
will be let out.

How will I face engineer friends
who plod with me daily
through the landscape of logic
and fluid dynamics

if my bluebird gets out?

The darn feathery emissary
will tweet away on my shoulder
as project managers gawk at me
during lunch.

How will I live
in the un-stanza'ed world
if my words are placed
next to a week in spring?

nicely written and good questions, Many poets have to be circumspect in deciding who to tell about our writing proclivity. I esp.like the image of the bluebird as the symbol of your writing. Just remember though its getting published in the TEXAS POETRY CALENDAR, which if you think about it those engineering colleagues are scarcely likely to pick up one. If your passion was instead UFO sightings would you be more or less likely to run into one of them? You see to out you they would be outing themselves because only another enthusiast would be there as well, lol. Of course in our cyber-reality embedded world, if anyone googled your name, your hidden life as a poet would spring forth. Thus the use of pen names comes into play. Good Luck on your publishing endeavors
