How The Rain Made Me Smile Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

How The Rain Made Me Smile

Rating: 4.5

My mind, dancing now, through the Mist of Time...
I am remembering,
It was our favorite thing to do,
Young and free, walking in the rain.
Me with the red umbrella and you
Belting out a melody of words in silly rhymes.
We'd get soggy wet, laughing just the same...
My mom cautioned us not to be so foolish.
We laughed the years away in and out of
The rain...
Now the rain, sings a different melody,
You are gone, to rest.
Little red umbrella, on the ground,
Tossed aside, upside down.
You and it both lost to me,
Oh death, why this reality?
