How The Heart Feels Poem by Ruth L. Rivers

How The Heart Feels

Just as hearts can burn with such passion
so they also do writhe in pains ache
Confusion by a loved ones harsh rejection
and rage at a diseases brutish take

The heart feels in its own unique blend
joy mixed with relief or numb sorrow
Each day leads often to a differing end
some paths today, others tomorrow

Where it guides vulnerable expression
as the currents motion ships rudder
There all feelings assert an impression
exhibit hearts response to another

What measure of living can be so shaped
in touch, glance, or soft spoken word
Binding rhythm of love or throbbing hate
amid hearts n' bodies so often stirred
