How Many Times Have I Counted The Stars Poem by Nathan Barkley

How Many Times Have I Counted The Stars

How many times have i counted the stars
Looking at them they never seemed that far
Within those eyes I feel like I want to cry
Is it out of fear, love, happiness?
I thought I already had died.
Inside where the flower petals gently glide
Onto this river of pain
Just to come back again someday
You make everything and this terrible world melt away
I feel it within those soft lips
The energy you give with those tiny hands on my hips
This illusion you created is better than anything I could of wished

Just like an eagle in the blue sky
Never weighed downed by lies
We fly where a place many have forgotten
Just like the rain
Feeling everyones pain
It's insane
You and I
Will become one not for just one day
Not just for one night
For eternity out of everyone's sight

It's a whole new level
I haven't felt this way in forever
Many have fallen
Stricken with emptiness
Sinking into loneliness
Just to let you know I was one of them
You saved me from this war
Where the outcome didn't matter
Everyone would of still lost their soul
Darling you are now my goal,
Reaching, and caring for your heart is what I live for

Just like an eagle in the blue sky
Never weighed downed by lies
We fly where a place many have forgotten
Just like the rain
Feeling everyones pain
It's insane
You and I
Will become one not for just one day
Not just for one night
For eternity out of everyone's sight

Oi mate this is really good! I like the picture of counting the stars, they are special to me. Also, I absolutely love the imagery of flower petals floating ever so gently on a river of pain knowing that is isn't gentle at all. Every ripple that petal causes will bring so much back, and like you mentioned, those petals come back later on. I really liked this!
