How Long Can You Keep Me Poem by amira chowdhury

How Long Can You Keep Me

Rating: 2.8

Oh Why am I alive, can't I just fly away.
Could it be possible that this is just a dream and I can wake up any second.
But the more I pinch myself, the more it hurts but the pain never goes away!
I guess that this pain is everlasting and I will never get a happy ending.
Maybe I was made to suffer and made to die every day even though my soul is alive.
And though I sob and regret every minute I am in pain, but I know that one day I will be free
One day they cannot hurt me anymore and I will grow wings.
Then there won't be any opposer to stop me,
And they can't break my tender heart to bruise me.I won't have any monster telling me to stop being myself, and remain being their controlled puppet.
Because no matter how much they try to make me cry, my tears will one day dry and my voice will rise as I become strong and firm enough
to escape their miserable prison, and explore this wonderful world to fill my eyes with glory.
As then I can smile, and walk with pride as the earth in front of me, lies....

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
While writing this poem, I was thinking about a movie character who was a slave and was tortured and wrote a poem in her prespective of her miserable world and her only wish!

Who says, 'How Long Can You Keep Me'. Is it a caged bird?
