How It Feels To Be Wife Poem by bakuli bhakali

How It Feels To Be Wife

Rating: 4.4

You may treat me
As you like.
I'm your so called wife.

Owned and disowned
At your will.
It never mattered how do I feel.
The day I married you
I lost my lover who longed for me,
Whatever it be!
My dreams are dying
Day by day.
But no attention you pay.
Gone are the days
When you loved me.
And longed to see.

It is time you must stand up for what is right and human for a wife not one perceived as a housewife in this age. Nicely portrayed by a poet with a voice that cannot be silenced. Please let it be known not to the entire readership but to whom it is conveyed if it's not only in poetry. Also read my latest poem 'love reigns'.

Some kind of betrayal sounds high in the read! Life seems a paradise to the patroons but once they step to the next level i.e. marriage, difficulties of the life shatter their dreams. It is very common since the ages. This is due to the gap built due to previous unrealistic/fake behavior. I wish both of them show their real facets in the beginning itself with out making fake compromises and sacrifices so that each will be clear about the roles and responsibilities along with the necessities. Promise/Sacrifice what you can do through out the life otherwise let them know its importance. Then only can this gap be abridged!

Thanks for your advice.... i too believe poetry is a way to relief our pain and grief! But it’s not exactly about me but I tried to speak on behalf of many around me… I’m perfectly happy… thanks again! !

Yes, marriage perhaps is more like an instrument of subjugation rather than a coming together of two souls.. Thanks Bakuli..

Thank you all for your comments! it's not my story. but I tried to depict the story of many women in a patriarchal set of society!

Woman are so incredibly organised and efficient it is so easy to take over many roles. Especially when in love. Yet before we know it we have made a bed for ourselves. May we hope it is not too late for a change to be made for you. Thank You
