How I Wish I Could Sing Poem by G. Akanji Olaniyi

How I Wish I Could Sing

How I wish I could sing
How I wish I had the voice to sing
Like the birds do early in the morning
When they herald the coming dawn
It is a task they cannot seize from doing
Their sing in chorus and like a choir
God knows who their choirmaster is
The songs are naturally arranged
And you wonder if they had any practice sessions overnight
Those songs have a strange rhythm
The lyrics are coming out fine
Beats and drums are the short silences
They lay inter space between the lyrics and the beats
It is a virtual band or orchestra
Sweet music
Enjoyable beats
Loud and clear
Like a morning serenading
Or massaging
Even a kind of therapy
All I wish is just to continue listening
