How I Do Love Thee Poem by Michael Egan

How I Do Love Thee

Rating: 5.0

And shall I then your Robert be
And you Elizabeth?
Our poems shall our children be
Beyond the pinch of death.

For though we die, yet will they live
Down all eternity
To tell how we did take and give
Sweet love, yes, you and me.

And joined we first through mind and heart
Through tears and words—one soul;
And then we found that sweeter part
That made our romance whole.

And that our secret glance shall be
Beyond mere busy Death
For always I shall Robert be
And you Elizabeth.
