How...? Poem by Ginny Gibbs

How...?

Rating: 5.0

How did it happen?
I still don't know.
You should ask my friends,
They've been watching from first row.

It started off so easy,
A smile and nothing too cheesy.
But then you held me for the first time,
And I can't help fearing that it was the last time.

Because sometimes are sweet and romantic,
The next day you close off, and I'm rejected.
I don't understand what you want from me,
If I make a move, will you think that I'm easy?

I wanna know you better,
But you don't want to let me close.
Your lips said forever,
Guess, it isn't how our story goes.

And I wonder if some day, when I read these lines.
Will I smile at them, or will they still make me cry?
'cause tears are all that I have right now,
I want to cuddle up to you, but I don't know how.

If you let me I would help you in everything,
In exchange I would never ask for anything.
Because your smile is all I need to make my day better,
Your curly hair and touch soft as feather.

You are so tall, walking next to me,
But I've never felt that you looked down on me.
And every word you say, oh you are so smart,
Mr Perfect's been your nickname right from the start.

Back then it was so easy,
We were only friends.
When did we start falling,
Or was it all pretense?

How did it happen?
I still don't know.
I fell for you hard,
And I never want to let you go.

Love is a spiritual experience that affects all and sundry profoundly. I like the articulation of the poem as it captured the bliss of love in the heart of hearts. A lovely romantic piece that warms the heart of the reader. Thanks for sharing. Please read my poem THE PHOENIX STRANGLER.
