House Care Poem by Eric Bult

House Care

My days are lent the value of your smile
As when from mental jousting you return
To seek my full account of action while
You were not here, such is your first concern.
Oh how I wish that I could then recount
Some interesting news that day procured,
Or show some sign that I might soon surmount
My awful handicap so long endured.
My part in marriage interplay is thus
Inverted from the norm, it can be said;
Perhaps this is the reason for the fuss
When it is found I did not make the bed.

I'm sure I shall eventually meet
Your standards, but no doubt will be effete.
