Judy and The Crow

Hope/No Hope - Poem by Judy and The Crow

One of us took Hope as a title, the other No Hope. Please see both poems below. We then merged them to create Hope/No Hope (also below) . It was an interesting experiment in writing.

Hope/No Hope

You start out this life
With a big bowl of hope
When that bowl is empty
You end hanging from a rope

You start off this life
Weak, yet still full of hope.
That hope gives you strength.
You end able to cope

You start losing hope
With broken promises
Drinking from the bowl
You end each day with less

Your hope is built up
And you add to your store.
With luck you will find
You end each day with more.

You start to lose all hope
With every single lie
When the bill comes due
You end with your bowl dry

You feed on that hope
At times when you're  in need
And if your books balance
You end happy indeed

No Hope

You start out this life
With a big bowl of hope
When that bowl is empty
You end hanging from a rope

You start losing hope
With broken promises
Drinking from the bowl
You end each day with less

You start to lose all hope
With every single lie
When the bill comes due
You end with your bowl dry

Hope

You start off this life
Weak, yet still full of hope.
That hope gives you strength.
You end able to cope

Your hope is built up
And you add to your store.
With luck you will find
You end each day with more.

You feed on that hope
At times when you're in need
And if your books balance
You end happy indeed
