Home-Coming Poem by Victor Okechukwu Anyaegbuna

Home-Coming

Master, I see you beyond
In grey gutters of white clouds
Sailing reverently around ripples
Circling the kingly bed;
Hovering in grandeur
Deluged in Peace Profound.

Honey is luscious, so sweet;
Guarded violently by stinging bees
That deliver pain and bitterness
For trespass on their comb.
I wonder who discovered it.

As bees guard the honeycomb,
So is Civitas Dei guarded
By angels of the Master
Armed so very strongly
With fiery passions for Truth.

The time comes pretty soon
When like the early morning star
We vanish in the glare of the rising sun
To escape pains and pleasures alike
Only perpetuated by truths we stood for
And lives our deeds have touched.
