Homage To Cornelius Cardew Poem by Rory Hudson

Homage To Cornelius Cardew

Burned in the memory, all through our history,
those who have died for the hopes of the world
live still in the dreaming of souls boldly streaming
onward and forward with banners unfurled -

we shall strive ever and sacrifice never
to the false gods of those who would shackle our hearts:
rather be joyful and worship the beautiful
spirit within in its myriad parts -

hear ye the numbers that now burst asunder,
shaking and breaking their chains to be free:
songs of beatitude sung by the multitude,
crowning and drowning the roar of the sea….

songs of beatitude sung by the multitude,
crowning and drowning the roar of the sea!
