Holocaust For A Garden Poem by Donal Mahoney

Holocaust For A Garden

The widow hires four men
to rip out her lovely garden.
She's too old to weed it.

All the roses will go to
the young bride across
the street. Other plants

will die slowly in bags
the garbage men will
find difficult to lift.

They don't know they're
pallbearers today at a
holocaust for a garden.
