Holiday Poem by John Doe

Holiday

Holiday

Mixed emotion comes up when this is thrown around
Memories of fleeting romances years ago
When we were free to love unconditionally
The first kiss on the beach
The first slow dance

That was then, this is now
No real expectation of holiday anymore
Should be filled with joy and happiness
But instead we dread it or embrace it
All depends on you state of mind

With love a holiday is something to savour
Special times, special meals and sunsets
Old friends new friends
Just fun and love
Happiness

Without love it an obstacle if your mind is clouded
So many expectations can be set
But truly it will be what it is
You make your own happiness from balls of emptiness
Surrounded by friends is great
But it just not the same

So this holiday we try again but on new rules
Don’t search
Don’t expect
Just have fun
Have a holiday
